At the tender age of 2 months and 13 days, Mariam and her mother visited Cure Clubfoot Guwahati. Her mother bore a worried look and couldn’t express much as she was not able to speak Assamese . So a translator from among the other parents assembled there was of great help. With their visits and repeated conversations we got along and the counsellor was able to understand what Mariam’s mother wanted to express. I vividly recall the day the mother ran out of the sample collection centre where Mariam was having a blood test before the Tenotomy. Fear and tears filled her eyes when she came running into the clinic room. However, with the passage of time and the healing seen on her daughter’s foot, this has all been replaced by happiness. Mariam is now on a FAB for the past 1 year and 4 months, and her mother expresses her joy every time they come for a follow-up visit.
