Launch of NISHCHAY – A clubfoot treatment digital assistance app for CIIT workers

NISHCHAY a web based data management application was launched by Dr Mathew Varghese, (Hon. Medical Director, CIIT) on the 12 August at the St Stephens hospital.

NISHCHAY has features to capture treatment progress, home/community based rehabilitation and education progress of children born with  clubfoot and children affected with cerebral palsy, down syndrome, visually challenged, deaf& hard of hearing, autism and DDH. The project of developing this unique and user – friendly application was supported by HDFC Life. This application will help different initiatives of  CURE International India Trust (CIIT) and Children in India Trust.

200 counselors of CIIT who are spread across all states of India will use NISHCHAY to document the medical records of over 70,000 children who are already enrolled in the program and every month another 1000 new children are enrolled for treatment. NISHCHAY is expected to improve the quality of treatment and care that is provided for both children with birth defects and  children affected with development delay. CIIT initiated a noble Private-Public Partnership with the Govt of  NCT of Delhi in 2009 and subsequently Memorandum of Understanding was signed with all the states across India.

The vision of CIIT is to eliminate disability from clubfoot in India. This is possible and this is necessary to save thousands of children from lifetime disability. This mega task will be possible only when every child born with clubfoot is identified soon after their birth and the right treatment is ensured. Your help in identifying children with disability and your financial support to ensure their treatment will make our nation proud, where children no more suffer preventable disability. Treatment that is available in 230 locations at the Govt medical college and Hospitals are free of cost and there is no surgery involved while correcting the clubfoot deformity. 8800020501 (National CLubfoot Helpline) for more details.
